I completed this week's tasks yesterday and fairly quickly, too, because I made it a family business: Mom was doing the spiritual stuff, like the séance and talking to Grim, Dad did the research and the teenage son took care of the plants. The most fun was the spiritual stuff, though, because even though she's a spellcaster - and a pretty good one -, Jamie has never, ever explored the spiritual world. No idea why she has the paranormal trait... I guess she just had way too many points to spend on potions and traits. Oh well. Her first séance, however, was very interesting.
She set up the table and everything she needed on one of the small balconies of the estate (the family lives at Hound's Head) because she figured she wouldn't be disturbed out there. Well... seems her son Jonas didn't get the message.
"Mommy? Why do you sit out here looking all weird? And what's that shiny ball? Can I play with it?"Luckily, the kid got bored quickly, so Jamie could continue with the séance and ask the spirits about Ambrosia.
"Huh. That was weird. And what was it that Great-Auntie Zelda said about a recipe for apple pie? I didn't quite catch that... maybe I'll try calling her again later. But first, let's call Grim."Summoning Grim was fairly easy, too, and when he showed up right outside the house, Jamie hurried outside. She was pretty freaked out and scared, but since Grim was very civil, she decided to be bold and come up with a very unusual proposal.
"I'm a top-notch scientist at FutureSim Lab. Mind if I take a quick swab? I'd really, really love to analyse your DNA... that is, if you have any...""Uh... sure, why not", Grim agreed. "Splendid! Open up and say aaaah... there you go. Thanks, Mr Reaper!"Grim seemed a bit surprised, but apparently, it didn't bother him much. Maybe he even had some fun? When Jamie tried to engage him in some small talk, though, he got a bit angry. How dare she advise him on improving his social skills or compliment him on that old tattered outfit? Just because he hasn't gotten around to pick up his new robe from the tailor's doesn't mean she can mock him, right? He was in a slight huff when he left, and Jamie reckoned that maybe next time, she'd better avoid sensitive topics. At least her husband Ben thought she had done great and deserved a special reward totally unrelated to the ones she got for completing all those tasks.
And while their parents snuck off for yet another woohoo, the kids enjoyed a round of table soccer.
From left to right: Jonas (the boy with the bear costume), his twin Sophie and Simon. Their two older sisters Flora and Daisy missed all the fun because they have already moved out and into their own places.
