I don’t think there’s many complaining about “life” elements like seasons and university being recycled. Those are a big part of people’s lives. What I do object to is how these are given to us. Being separated and sold off into stuff packs and game packs does not equate to more depth and game play replay. The biggest factor in what’s different about it is that we are paying more money for it.
The recycling of basic animations annoys me more than I can say. Watch a sim do the “show photos”interaction. Then watch a teenager do the “show selfie”interaction. In previous games you could hazard a guess what they were discussing based on the animation or the speech bubble. In this game it could be anything and that’s not a compliment.
Vets re using the same animations as doctors and the sloppy retail system being copied over? I’m sorry but that’s not something to be bragging about. It’s not really acceptable that even now in the Doctor career the staff just stand about talking to a patient. Vets ditto.
The food carts being recycled is getting very old. No doubt there are more coming because it’s probably easier to re skin a static food cart then give us other choices.
Clothes and hairstyles are re used all the time. My first pet show cases that exactly. In The Sim Supply’s review of the pack, James showed how quick amd and easy it is to do re-colours.
Recycling is a huge problem in this game. And it will continue since cutting corners and re using old concepts seems to be popular.
Actually sounds like you want recycling if you ask me and are angry it isn't recycled. Believe me retail is not recycled - people are actually complaining still since it first came out that they should have done retail like sims 2 and not like it is in this game. I sort of agree with them to be honest as I love retail in Sims 2 - don't even bother with it in Sims 4.
You complain of food carts - well it seems with every coming ep what do simmers request more kinds of food carts - and yes we have had them every sims games - only Sims 1 did them better in the Makin Magic Carnivals what with them carrying all kinds of things and ability to barter or do things for the venders to earn the goods or any number of things. Maybe you don't like them - that is fine - I would have liked Sims 1 style - but many simmers keep asking for more. I have already seen post for hot chocolate food stands in a season ep and as of yet we don't even know if we'll get that ep - (I think they will - but you never know). How about tropical beach vacations - every sims games had them and what is the top request.
So of course Maxis is going to be more open to ideas long used when the majority of simmers keep asking for the same things. Take a look at the request in the thread where they are asking simmers what they want in the game - how many new ideas do you see where many people agree that is actually new and not recycled ideas?
I like the idea of a Hogwarts kind of school for witch from child age up sounded great.
I liked the idea of an ocean liner vacation where the ocean liner stopped at several ports for sims to visit sounded great.
I thought the idea of Sims joining a space academy and actually able to go with them on something like the Starship enterprise sounded great.
A time machine where we went with Sims to the past or the future and visited the worlds on a mission sounded great also.
All new ideas - I saw in a survey back when Sims 4 came out along with maybe another dozen new great ideas - not a one of which has seen the light of day in the Sims 4. At least marketing has ideas - but apparently the simmers want rehashed, recycled ideas because that is what they ask for.
No, just no. I don’t know where I have ever said that. You are wrong.
I dislike retail as an example because sims just stand about and talk and employees don’t do anything.
That is what I meant - that was the new retail - when actually we could have enjoyed Sims 2 style retail that actually looked and worked like a real store, plus sims could live in the home businesses if they wanted to. That is one case retail should have been recycled and not made different and new. I too despise Sims 4 retail - give me back Sims 2 style.
Sims 2 retail is the best.
But for me sims 4 could have been different, but it wasn’t. I believe the recycling is what makes the games flawed. Staff stand about and do nothing in the doctor career. One always goes and talks to a patient all day long. Vets aren’t much better with staff taking their time to do examinations, ignoring patients most of the time and ignoring things like mess on the floor and no amount of training resolves the issues. The retail system didn’t have to be a copy of the sims 2 but what we have is basically an adult day cay centre where sims come to chat all day in 4 and it’s not fun, enjoyable or challenging.
That’s where I object to recycling. As DeservedCriticism said, why on earth would you recycle a flawed system?
We have blatent recycling going on as shown in the image in the first page of this thread. I’m surprised there hasn’t been more of a fuss about this considering we are paying for the content again.
I mean for me I’m out at this point, I haven’t played the game in weeks. Partly down to my own well being and real life but also because the sims 4 has left a sick feeling in my mouth that I’m confident is not down to real life illness. I think I’m done with the sims 4.
Edited to add, image has gone which is a shame."MidnightAura;c-16406417" wrote:"Writin_Reg;c-16406412" wrote:"MidnightAura;c-16406410" wrote:"Writin_Reg;c-16406403" wrote:"MidnightAura;c-16406337" wrote:

When it comes to retail I still don't get it. Retail store is something that I always play. I love running them in the game. My Employees are maxed skilled on all areas(work ethic, sales, and maintenance) and every action that I command them was immediately followed by the employee. The customers, I see like 3-4 groups of Sims that are shopping, the rest are looking on the items. I also put many signs to increase the curb appeal, etc. When I ask my employee to "answer customer questions" they will interact with a group of sims, at first I thought that my employee was just slacking, but after a sim hour, I just realized that the sims that are wanting to be rung up are sims that my employee had talked to.
So basically I don't get the saying that employee won't do what you command at them( I am talking about the retail. (I still haven't played the veterinarian, saving it up for my future play.) Based on what is happening on my game I can say that in my experience the "adult day care" retail was just like than when Get to Work was launch. When I jump back at playing retail on Nov. 2016, It was much more a better experience than in the past, I no longer have issues with it. Even my Employee that has a very low skill do the actions that I told them at retail stores. That's why I just don't get why it was bad when my employees are doing what I say, and my customers are actually shopping. I even tried to build a small store just with a counter and cash register and a wall with 3 paintings. 2 customers had arrived, and they looked at it, and their curb appeal increased on their own. To have them purchase I just command my sim to interact with those two sims then viola, two of the tree paintings have been sold easily. It really isn't flawed imo.
And regarding the doctors at the Hospital doing absolutely nothing, I kinda think its more like a design choice. IF the doctors and the orderly keep curing and diagnosing sick sims on their own then it is more likely for you to run out of sick sims to cure. IF a pregnant sim came to the hospital and they enabled autonomy of the co workers, then you may just be unable to get that promotion you wanted.
I guess it depends on what level you are. the higher level you get, you don't have to worry about the doctors because by the time you reach the level as a general practitioner in the career I don't believe there is another doctor. The other NPC's are typically nurses, the receptionist and the orderly. (Correct me if I'm wrong, I used to play the career a lot but have recently branched out to other careers). My thing is if they were to make the other workers act autonomously they should only do things specifically with their job title. Like only the doctor NPC's can diagnose, but nurses can run all the tests, and the receptionist actually checks patients in and the patient actually sits down and wait to be called back. I just feel like the system could have been implemented better.
Actually the Doctor Career is my most played career in the whole Expansion. I maxed it out multiple times already. Yep, when you are at the higher levels you are the only doctor. IMO when they are developing this pack they have no coordination with other people working at different career. In the Scientist Career the developers that worked on that area added the ability to have our sim instruct their co-workers. Especially since in reality they don't invent things on their own, the same as in the doctor career they don't cure sims on their own. The problem is it appears that in the Doctor Career they didn't gave us the option. That;s wanting that I don't like with GTW to be honest. I think they could make them act autonomously but they didn't do it to avoid the patients being constantly cured by NPC, but we should have gotten the option to command other sims.
