Ever since TS4 came out there's been a lot of talking about how bad its engine is. I think the amount of recycling going on is yet another sign of that. They're limited in how many new things they can implement, so they stick to what's already part of the game and just tweak it. Vampires was something fresh, and oddly enough, it came out around the time TS4's sales were in a rather poor condition... Looks to me like they gave us something so good just to get on good terms with players who turned their back on them, and then it was back to the usual. That's also why EPs lack features so much.
Yeah, strange that 'good' EPs, SPs and GPs only seem to appear when Sims 4 isn't doing so well, almost seems that the nickel-and-diming they're doing has nothing to do with team or budget but is actually deliberate.
I'm being reminded of an old South Park episode, where a 'trailer' for a film says at one point: "It's Jim Carrey in, whatever, you'll pay to go see it", well in this case it's EA-xis saying: "It's the Sims, whatever, you'll buy it".
I'm sure it is deliberate.
They must have planned out everything truly new they're going to give us and all the rest is just a gamble of how creative the devs will be with re-naming features to make them seem like something fresh and innovative.
My next big guess - Festivals from CL will come back in Seasons EP, will be advertised as a main, core selling point feature but the only thing different about them will be re-skins of food stalls so they correspond to each season. 2 years later you'll see people complaining about the exact same issues they remember from CL that will never get patched.
Yep - I'd like that if they are seasonal festivals. Not a problem with it at all if that is the only way we can get them in this game. Something in the way of festivals or fairs for each holiday is better than nothing but just seasons and no salute to the various holidays.
I'd be genuinely surprised if they can do seasons at all for this incarnation of The Sims, I don't think the sheer rigidity of the games design will allow it.
