I understand what you mean about the game forcing sims on you. I'm a control freak and like to choose my played sims love relationships. When I first started to understand how relationships work in the game, I created a male and female sim whose traits were perfect for each other. They got married and had children. I worked for months building their relationship with each other and family. Not to mention I went all in to max their traits, aspirations and careers. Their children had the best of teaching and education. They were pretty much all well nurtured.
However, I couldn't understand why the wife seemed to be constantly nagging at the husband every time they talked. He usually ended up walking away in disgust. Call me a slow learner, but after months of this crap, I finally figured out that the wife didn't want to be with husband because she wanted to date other people, none of which could hold a candle to her awesome husband. When they went out to clubs, other sims would give the husband dirty looks and when he got into conversations with them, they seemed to be lecturing him, to the point he would end up frowning about whatever was just said. What was happening is the other sims were trying to convince the husband to let the wife go and let her date others. I know now, in those conversations, they were trying to matchmake the husband to someone else so the wife could be free. And almost always the wife had a specific sim they wanted to date.
I was so pissed off after learning that the game pushes this narrative, I let them divorce and never played that female again. She's in the world, but I don't play her. But that doesn't really fix the problem. Since then, as many new worlds as I've started and restarted, it's always the same old BS. And I usually find myself thinking about the writers and coders of the sims 4 and wonder why they never give the player a way to say NO to this network of friends. Because once your their target, it will stay that way until you give them what they want.
I've tried to find another perfect partner for this male sim, but no matter what I do, he always becomes a target of this network of friends. It's so frustrating. It saps all the fun out of the game for me because I can never get to the point of starting a family with children. I'm always on the run from these evil beasts.
And I can always tell who the town is trying to fix my sim up with because they start stalking him everywhere he goes. And when anyone else stands near them or talks to them they get the evil eye from said stalker. GRRR.
And the only recourse to show disdain for these would be suitors, is to either yell at them or use every rotten vampire skill my sim possesses on them. Even that is futile because the more I use negative vampiric powers on them, the more they come back. And the more I yell at them, the more they seem to like it. :(
