The biggest grievance I have with TS4 is the match making system. Basically, it starts like this, Sim A decides they want to date Sim B. So Sim A starts spreading the word among friends that they want to date Sim B. The friends go to Sim B and let them know their friend wants to date them and their life is no longer their own. Sim B says yes, even without ever meeting Sim A. Now, if Sim B had another romantic interest, it is now null and void. Sim B couldn't say no and the entire town will hold Sim B's feet to the fire. Sim B can no longer enter another relationship without extreme grievance and is stuck with Sim A for the entirety of the game. Unless I either kill off or delete Sim A. It happens every time I start a new game. I've seen many instances where the town was established and then enters my most played sims and within hours of moving into the world, they've already put a stranglehold on him/her. There's no way for the player to direct Sim B to say no to Sim A. The player has absolutely no control over who their sims end up in a relationship with. With almost 12,000 hours into the game, it's really become unbearable.
I would really like to have the option to refuse someone who wants to date my main sims. To have the option for the player to say NO. How hard would that be?
That's just my main grievance. There are many more. :(
I don't understand this mechanism... I've never experienced it in my game.
There appears to be no matchmaking at all in my game except for the "Ask About Sim..." interaction and the new "blind date" feature with Reputation. I wish there was a real attraction system though. There may be a hidden attraction system but it is very easy to override.
