Retail - What Can't Be Sold

Buydebug is also hit or miss. Some things will look great in a shop but you cant sell all of them

Hmm...I was going to make a Hardware store. I wonder if Build mode objects can be sold at all?

Anyone go to make a specific type of store only to find out that you can't sell what you hoped? I am kind of miffed about the counters not being able to sell. That is a huge part of buying furniture for a house. I don't understand the reason we can't buy it.

Look at it this way....you can't take counters home with u in real life either, because they are usually custom made and need to be delivered. Just make sure u have other saleable objects in the store, and you can pretend your sims are looking at the counters to buy,( they can be placed there), then go home and order them. I know what u mean though.... My sim wanted to buy their child a fish bowl and I found out I couldn't..., maybe with pets though.. I have a little business called retail on a shoestring (an outdoor store or flea market) that my outdoor sim owns and is doing quite well at. She hasn't hired employees yet, she sells things cheaply and only has a couple of big bought items in the store. She mostly sells fish, harvestabls and collectibles. It doesn't take long to build perks up. And selling is great for the social need. I have to say, I really love this expansion pack, it has so many things to it. I still haven't gotten into the alien thing yet, although my young female scientist was abducted

I don't actually plan on running the shops. I am mostly using this system to add challenge to the game. None of my houses are furnished and I planned on sending my sims out to purchase furnishings as they can afford them. One of the biggest reasons I want to do it this way is because of the markup. I want things to be more expensive for my sims since in reality, furnishing a home is very expensive and usually takes months or years of accumulating items. So I guess I'm going to go into my homes and add counters (since those actually do usually come with the home). But I did want the option to upgrade the house with newer, nicer counters. Oh well.

You could force your Sims to skill up in handiness enough to make their own furniture :) Wouldn't work for counters though...

Thanks. However, my goal is a sort of realistic economy. That is useful for a crafty SIM, though. I did build a woodworking store so I can eventually have a SIM own it. I honestly haven't ever even tried that part of the game yet. I don't know the possibilities.

You can build all sorts of neat things with the woodworking station, too. I like your idea for gameplay, though. Sounds interesting.

Yes, if I had enough lots to build more stores....I think this is a great idea.... It certainly beats having to go in every time you want a sim to buy something to make sure it is in the store.... Lol.... Which is what I usually have to do! I have used the wood working station a little.... They have some cute things to build.
