I do what @ChampandGirlie and @Sha2520032003 and rotate when my Simmies have reached a milestone or a good stopping point. For now, I’ve just turned aging off for inactive households when at Uni and played through until they graduate.
I only plan on sending a Simmie to Uni every once in awhile. Probably just the occasional one that I really like. If you’re planning to send a bunch of Sims to Uni, I could see how the above plan might throw the rest of your neighborhoods off balance.
That's really cool. Great minds ... thanks for sharing.
As for me, gah, I'll just go at whatever pace I go at. I'm happy to be kept busy when I have the time to play. - SheriSim6 years agoSeasoned HotshotI have a big rotation, so far have aging off and I rotate to whichever household I want to whenever I want. haven’t gotten DU yet, but when I do I plan on playing one of the DU households till graduation, to get a feel for it. I’m hoping I can figure out how to have 2-4 playable sims ( of my choice ) from different households in the same dorm going to school at the same time. From reading above, I’m thinking it might be easier for me to put the ones I want to send in the same household and have them apply at the same time. Then playing a small group of them till graduation. Then rotate to other households for a bit and come back and do the same thing when I feel like playing University students again.

Well, I should update what I wrote earlier. I'd recommend waiting to graduate any of your sims right now. The first sim I mentioned? Her diploma has shown up in the inventory of every household I rotated to after her graduation. Yet she didn't get her diploma, all she got was her graduation portrait. There's no other weirdness, it's just annoying seeing them in the other household's inventories. I don't know if it's a game breaking bug YET, I have no issues loading the save. I reported it at AHQ and wanted to let you all know since you're rotational players too.
Did you happen to notice if there is a last exception file in your Sims 4 folder? I keep getting them even with all my mods out. Then I noticed the degrees in everyone's household inventory even though none of the sims are in Uni. I noticed the last exception file mentions diploma creation so it must be a University bug. Not a big deal but I use MCCC which gives me a notification of last exceptions and I get one every time I rotate to a household.
Yes, there is that last exception file in my Sims 4 folder, thank you for pointing it out so I could go look for it. I don't play with mods or CC so this has got to be a bug in the game itself. I hope they're able to fix it soon.- I've found I have to play with more restrictions but otherwise, it's ok. I would usually rotate when I got bored or fancied a change, I've never had a set schedule. Now I make sure I finish a term with whoever I am playing with. I have a group of about 6 YA's I'm rotating through, I just had the first one graduate. I've been playing with two sims in each 'family'. When they finish a term, I move them back 'home' to their parents, and imagine they're on summer break, and pick up the next two for their next term. So far everyone has been getting good grades. I would really prefer it if I could have them all enrolled at once, and rotate round without anyone continuing their terms without me, so they would at least all be enrolled together and see each other around Britechester. I've gotten over this by having the rest of the rotation in a club and set the pub in Britechester as their hangout, so I just head there if I want to socialise with them.

I went to AHQ and commented on the thread there. I hope this is fixed soon too! - janyses6 years agoNew ObserverEveryone with the duplicating diplomas issue, please click "Me Too" here so it gets more attention: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-INPUT-DU-Household-Inventory-if-filled-by-other-sims/m-p/8458178#M111868
This seems to affect rotational players the most, since new diplomas appear every time you change households.
To give the original sim a copy of their diploma, place it into the inventory of an active household member and use the 'give gift' interaction on the other sim. (Need the Seasons pack for this to work and may have to build relationship first.)
*Or do what Chazzzy did above and temporarily merge your sim with the other household to retrieve the missing diploma.
You can delete the extra diplomas by drawing or placing a small room, hanging them on the walls of the room, then deleting the room. (Click the room to highlight it, then press Delete on your keyboard.) - Reddestiny9216 years agoSeasoned AceI didnt have issues rotating within uni basic grades and such but then I only switched to do homework and went back to my main students. One of my group graduated so if the error was really squashed Ill rotated out of uni to check on her.

I'll probably just stick with playing a week per rotation as I usually do, but when sims go to university I'll make sure they complete the term with aging off, unless it's a save where a sim is meant to be studying a long course and living at home.
I have not sent sims to uni yet but I will do it this way. - MDianaSims6 years agoSeasoned HotshotI'm currently playing with two single sim households, both at uni. As soon as they finished the term, always 6 PM on final exam day, I look at their grades and in the next screen choose not to re-enroll them. Then I immediately open the options menu, save and go to manage worlds. That way my sims don't get kicked out of their dorms and I just re-enroll as soon as I load their household the next time they come up in the rotation.
That said, I wouldn't mind a mod that stops term progress while playing a different household. - So far I've been playing till graduation which is 4 to 6 terms, which is waaaaaaay longer than my usual rotation.
A bit straining yeah, but since the experience is new it's enjoyable.
Not sure I'll be sending my sims to Uni as often later.
