Oh ok. Makes sense now. I think it is a little frustrating sometimes how the game decides which Sims will like which traditions based on such a small handful of traits. It means your Sims have to have those traits if you want them to participate in the tradition. If there were more traits, I think then they could have more traits determining tradition interests and you still get the feeling that the Sim has their own individuality rather than say, only Snobs liking a certain tradition. I don't think the game prevents sims from participating in traditions depending on their traits, it's just that the tradition will be greyed out if it doesn't suit their traits.
True. Do Sims get any sort of moodlet if they participate in a greyed out one?

So OP’s issue is that they want to do traditions that are restricted by age group, not traits. I was misunderstanding and thinking they meant the Childish trait was required for a tradition.
