Self-Employed

If you played Sims 3 you know that there was a form of employment called Self-Employed. You had to register at the city hall and you could stay at home and basically do any type of employment from home. Is there anything like that in Sims 4? The reason I ask is that I have a vampire that currently needs to report to work during the day and you all know what happens to a vampire in daylight, so I cannot finish a day of work before all my vampire energy is gone and I have to bring the Sim home early.. I could make a drink to help me resist the sunlight, but I have never made one and I do not know if the effects last long enough to get through a day of work. Any ideas? Thank you.
  • There is, but it works a little different in Sims 4. In Sims 4 you can give whatever title to your self-employed sim, and is not required on any set type of skills.

Self-Employment – Vixella has confirmed in her overview video that the patch will add the ability for Sims to register a custom careers, aka: self-employment. The way it works is Sims will select the new “Register with Ministry of Labor” interaction on their cell phone, & fill in the blanks on the pop up that appears. There are no specific skills or actions tied to these careers, but it does allow your Sims to “freelance” and not be labeled unemployed.

Your vampire won't die if they run out of energy during the workday. Just make sure to bring them inside quickly if they get home in the daylight.

They CAN register as self-employed by calling the "Ministry of Labor," but that just gives them a title of your choice. But if you wanted your vampire (for example) to have the job title "Painter" while they stayed home and did paintings as opposed to going to the actual job, that's how you'd do it.
  • I don't think vampires die while at work. I play two vampire siblings that go to work during the day, and did so even before they had earned the sun resistant perk. They'd sizzle a little while on their way to work, as they had to go outside momentarily, but they always came home perfectly fine, and I never had to bring them home early because of low energy.

I loved the fact that in TS3 they would receive money at the end of the year. Couldn't we see that returns?

There is a way to work around this, by using a money cheat to add the year-end bonus.
