Should I fire my butler???

I usually reprimand them a few times to give them a fair chance. If they don't get it together then I fire them and get a better one lol ???
The interesting thing is that I have seen different behaviors from butlers. I guess it depends on their traits.

I just thought it was bizarre to see him there and not get any notification that the toddlers were sent to daycare or anything. And when my sims went home (which they couldn't do until the flea market was over for some reason), he was already home again and acting as if he hadn't just gotten busted.

Since I don't have the pack that butlers come wit, I'm curious - are they a member of your family or are they more of an NPC like a nanny? And if they are just an NPC, do they live with you or do they just show up for services like a daily gardener or maid?

Game logic. The game pulled your butler to be a random browser or walkby at the fleemarket but already registered him to be at home with your kids. Your kids are fine cause basically he is in two places at once.

A butler isn't a family member ... even though you assign them a bed, so yeah they are going to be able to go where ever they want if you aren't home to anchor them.
I wouldn't fire him unless he's doing a bad job that you can't encourage him to be better at.

I would fire the Butler in a heartbeat. I'm strongly considering firing the Nanny I've been using. I find it odd, that when my Sims get back home from their evening out, that the children are returning home from Daycare and the Nanny is just walking up and greeting them by saying how nice it is to see them again. Face/palm. This after their Dad pays her an extra §100.00 for her time. Oi! This after she shows up on the time stated, too. Something suspicious is going on.

The butler is like a live-in nanny/maid/gardener/maintenance worker/roommate all rolled into one. He's an interactive NPC so you can't directly control him but you can order him around. If you have one, you never have to hire a service again. All of the features can be turned on and off too so that if you would rather raise your children, tell the butler not to tend to minors or if, like in my case, you need to care for your own garden, you can tell him not to garden as well. He's really a game changer! Especially if you have 6 minors and 3 of them are toddlers. :lol:

Of course, your butler is very easily abusable too. :lol:

Yestersimday, we had a party so dirty dishes were piled up, plumbing and the dishwasher were broken, water everywhere and one of my toddlers needed a bath so the butler was trying to take care of all of that but I told him to give the kid a bath instead because I just couldn't be bothered to do it. He finally got to bed at like 6 am and then one of my toddlers woke at 7 am hungry so I had the toddler wake the butler instead of my "tired" sims. So yeah, easily abusable. ;wink:

Yeah but seeing him at the Flea Market, my first thoughts were "my babies! What have you done with my babies???"

I think the purpose of the nanny service is so that you can be on the lot with the toddlers and they'll have a "grown up" on there because yeah, I've tried using it and then going to work just to come home to the scenario that you described. But if you take your other sims off lot then pop in to check on the toddlers while the adults are away, the nanny should be there with them. I don't know for certain but that's my thinking on it.
