Sick Cat Question

So today little Cadence found a stray cat and the poor thing is obviously sick. She quickly befriended it and begged her parents to let her keep it. Sadly they had to say no. How could they say no to this adorable little pleading face? Well... the problem is that Cadence is one of six kids. There's just no room in the family household that has a max of 8.

She did convince them to put some food outside the home for the cat though and it happily ate it. My question is, can they take it to the vets or heal it another way without adding it to their household? I haven't played with animals much at all and the option wasn't in pet care so I'm unsure how to do this.

  • Unfortunately, you can't. You need to own the cat in order to take it to the vet.

You can give the cat the wellness treat that you can buy at the vet and the cat will be cured. You might need littlemssam's Advanced Wellness Treat Fix mod in order for it to work properly, I'm not sure if Maxis fixed that treat.

littlemssam also made another mod that stops stray pets from getting sick.

Thank-you! I'll try that for sure!
  • Has anyone tried resetsim on a stray?

I only ask because I rotated around to one of my pet households and the dog was sick (of course) and I fed it a wellness treat, which stopped his nose from glowing but made him barf constantly all around the house. I looked online and the cure was to use resetsim on the dog (which worked - yay!!!) so I wondered if it would work on a stray.

I haven't seen any strays for ages or I would try it myself.
  • You could play another household and take it to the vets ( unless you are doing a legacy challenge)

I'm not doing any challenge, but I'm not sure I have any sims in my world atm without 8 person households haha (I usually go to manage worlds and delete almost everyone that spawns other than my sims I want to play... I do it a couple times per game play session hahaha.. and all MY families have as many kids/tots as possilbe). I could move someone in, but then I gotta find the cat, add it to household, take it to the vet and then figure out how to remove it from the household again before deleting the person I moved in.

I'll try it when i get on next! I'm gonna try that mod too though after as I don't want the other strays to be sick either. I don't mind a few strays but I hate having them all be sick!
