Of course that may now be due to the fact that they're finding those Easter eggs "under" each plant they harvest.
But when it comes to leaving them to their own devices (not queuing any actions for them at all) they pause a few Sim minutes and something pops up.
Is "autonomy" in your game "off", by any chance?
