The neighborhood stories didn't factor in those of us who use MC Command Center to extend the amount of days a sim is pregnant. My sim has a friend who announced she was pregnant and a few days later, she texted my sim telling her she'd given birth.
There were two tiny issues: My pregnancies are 12 days as I'm on a long Lifespan, and the sim in question who was the expectant mama wasn't even pregnant.
