EA, not the simgurus should probably do something, give the community something to talk about. The community, hell, the whole world could use some good news now or something to cheer them up with.
I think the community have showed that they were not okay with them releasing a pack that was broken, so it would probably be a good idea for them to show that they are listening and will not attempt to do it again, and also that they show their commitment to their game by fixing it.
But I can post ad infinitum about what Maxis and EA should do, in the end, they themselves have to realize what they are doing and how they can improve.
Just...do something, give people something else to talk about. People will talk about the recent thing EA and Maxis did, and the recent thing they did was releasing a pack that was broken.
