I think the upshot of all this will be the end of the SimGuru program. I have my doubts that they will be back ever. It was a voluntary ambassador program that some of the devs undertook out of their love for the game, and their goodwill has been exploited time and time again and this latest incident has a whiff of the last straw to me. It’s unfortunate and I hope I am wrong but you can only push people so far.
Couldn't have said it better myself.
I too wouldn't be surprised if the gurus throw in the towel at this point either. It's not in their job description to have to put up with abuse from the community, nor should they have to. They're not obligated to grovel and answer to the screamers on social media, including this forum and this very thread.
I can see that your angry and upset about this and I'm truly sorry about that, but I don't think its fair to say anyone on this thread has been abusive toward anyone on the team. Constructive criticism isn't abuse. If it were then, posts would have been removed and individuals banned that's not happened as far as I am aware.
Exactly. I agree that neither the sim gurus OR members of these forms deserve to be screamed at, belittled or threatened… but that is totally different then someone stating their unsatisfaction with a product they purchased or was going to. We are the consumers of EA/the Sims teams products and if they are producing and making available faulty products we have the right to give feedback /constructive criticism on said products . EA /Sims team should and I’m sure do understand that .. they are a multi million dollar company not a small mom and pop shop. They themselves would complain if they bought a product that wasn’t working as advertised especially if the product could not be returned so why would they expect anything less of their own clientele ? They wouldn’t but for whatever reason they are choosing to remain silent instead of being responsible owning their mistakes and doing what needs to be done to correct them.
We don't know that they aren't correcting the errors. As for their silence, I don't see what other recourse they have. The tried the more transparency route and the more direct fanbase communication route and both have done nothing but blow up in their faces. No fix is ever adequate, and no dlc seems to measure up to expectations. It's gotten to the point that there was a thread on here asking for a MWS refresh before the pack was ever released. Honestly, I support them in their silence. Enough is enough. These are human beings with families to care for, who I sincerely believe do care very much about delivering a quality product and who are really trying their very best to make as many people happy as they possibly can, and I will say this again:
This pack per the dlc development timelines they shared with us in the past was likely developed from start to finish in quarantine, working from home over Zoom. I cannot imagine how difficult that must be, in the studio they work on computers with identical specs on shared servers which provides them with a consistency of performance that allows them to determine with some certainty what is a bug/glitch. With each person working at home on home internet, and home computers each with a different specs than your teammates that task gets vastly harder and even if they were able to log in remotely from home to the Maxis Studio servers let me tell you from my experience doing that when I worked in medical billing that situation brings with it a whole new host of issues that can make it really hard to determine if your bug is due to your internal program or a remote hosting issue. This whole situation as someone who suffered major bullying in school from both my fellow students and a teacher had brought up feelings in me that I thought were long dealt with, and I see this community with different eyes and I am in the process of trying to decide if it's even anything I want to be a part of anymore. There is a loss of perspective regarding the humanity of the people who develop this game that I find absolutely stomach turning.
