Kits seem to have ideas on existing packs. I don't think the backlash will be as bad as Batuu.
The backlash won’t even be close. Unlike Batuu, there’s also a lot more future potential for kits. I don’t think the price will change unless they’re sold as part of a pick and mix bundle. I would agree, it is strange to think that a “mere” CAS pack should have the same price tag as a gameplay kit. However, to a CAS creator who doesn’t care for an additional gameplay system, that $5 dollar may be a good way to spend on a kit with a couple of items they like. Same goes for builders. It doesn’t matter whether the content took less time to create. EA knows that too.
Adding different price tags to different kits will only confuse the customer. Folks find it much easier to work with simple subdivisions rather than a chaotic price list. It makes it easier for the customer to save and put that fiver aside for when they see a kit that suits their playstyle. Simplicity is key to keep a customer engaged. And often it has little to do with the content.
ETA: I also want to add, when a pack is $5, during a 50% sale $2.50 looks much more appealing to a customer than when the retail price is $2.50 and it’s on sale for $1.25. These last numbers are too close together. Working with a higher retail price will have more impact on sales, because the numbers actually look better to the eye. Especially if the customer is willing to spend $5 anyway. It makes them believe that they saved more.
