Sims 4 made my gay Sims straight

In Sims 3, if you made gay Sims, they pretty much always stayed gay - even if you stopped playing them for a while. You could move on to another house, play for a while, and when you came back, your Sims didn't change preference, even if they were seeing someone else.

In Sims 4, I've noticed that if I don't play my gay households for awhile, when I return, they've usually started relationships with the opposite sex. One Sim, in particular, I started him in a gay relationship. They broke up. I didn't play him for a while and when I went to check on him, he was with a female. I've seen this happen with a few other Sims as well. Another Sim gay I frequently play with often flirts with women. I didn't make him bi. I made him gay.

I can't begin to tell you how upsetting this forced lifestyle is. Why does the game do this? Why can't the game determine sexual preference and stick with it, like ALL the Sims games before it? Not only does the game appear to be intolerant of gay Sims, it's forcing it's own agenda on them. I RULE? Not if my gay Sims don't stay gay. I created this Sim, I wanted him gay. How does this translate into ME telling the stories I want to tell?

In Sims 3, I theorized that once you, the player, flipped a switch and made gay Sims, the game would accommodate this and you'd see gay townies turning up. This doesn't seem to the be the case with Sims 4. There is no switch. Gay relationships don't appear to propagate on their own. A player's preference is totally ignored and for some reason the game favors hetero relationships. Total B..S..

This is absolutely the most ridiculous thing I've seen in the game yet. Forget story progression, forget toddlers, forget cemeteries. Sims 4 is intolerant by design. This is a massive and heinous oversight. I can't even.

Sims 4 has so much wrong with it, but discovering this slight is upsetting, hurtful, and downright ignorant. This is by far the worst infraction and should not be tolerated by anyone. The Sims has a large gay following and everyone needs to know about this whether you're gay, an ally or everything in between. F this.

I don't play multiple households in the same save, if I want to play another household I do a new save. All my gay relationships have remained gay--but I'm fed up with the autonomous flirting. This always causes hard feelings and fights when when my Sims go out to socialize because I can't stop them from doing it while playing one Sim--the other one flirts and they can't have a nice night out without drama. I wish there was a way to keep relationships active between saved games--but it's either same them out separately or who knows what the other households are going to get into if I don't play them for a while.

It should be noted, I'm considering crafting an article for social media. I really think this needs attention called to it. I know it will get lost in these forums among the now clustered "chatter". The world is becoming a more tolerant place and for a game that's always been progressive, it's a shame to see it go back in time. The Sims has always been tolerant of sexuality, mixed races, inter-species dating (lol) and blended families. Not just the gay families, how many families have I had to repair because a Romantic Sim goes on a flirting spree? EA/Maxis, you're on notice. Someone needs to work overtime to fix this.

Well, if you feel that you must go that route, at least be honest and present it as faulty programming on EA/Maxis's part, especially since this issue affects both gays and straights in the game. It's really not a question of intolerance, even if you see it that way.

I agree about it's being the programming and not an outright social commentary. It's so clearly programming, but it's also blatant disregard. It's neglect. It's a horrible mistake someone should have caught. No one spoke up. No one said: Hey, Sims are flirting with everyone and this overrides sexual preference. Don't they have a QA department? It's intolerance because removing something that was always there and not thinking to put it back means it's not on their radar. It should be. It has to be. Did anyone speak up for the gay community? Considering what a big deal having gay couples in the game is (and always has been) I'm flabbergasted by this mistake. It's a doozy.

It goes both ways. It's not just a gay issue. Do I want my family man with 3 kids to flirt with every female Sim he runs into? I like flirty Sims, but it's out of control. I merely want the option to create Sims MY way. It would be nice if I could create Sims that stay in healthy realtionships, if I choose. Or not. It should be up to me. If I want a Sim that woo-hoos around, that's my choice.

If you think that it's only "not enough representation of gays/lesbians" of the faulty gays is the issue, wait till you hear about reports coming from players that had their straight sims turn into homosexuals/bisexuals. The Whole Sexual Orientation, regardless of who turn from what and who turn into what, is programmed badly.

Well maybe your sim is Bi? maybe he doesn't just like boys!
Jeez! let your sim live his life the way he wants it when you're not playing him!

I know I'm necro replying to these decade comments, but I could care less. Thing is, The Sims is all about control. My argument to your would be that you wouldn't mind If story progression took over and heavens bid that your sim decides to drown in his/her backyard or start flirting with their own children, just because "let him live is life he wants it when you're not playing him!". Abysmal argument of yours If you think about.
