Sims 4 Neighborhood Stories: A Mistake From EA?

I cannot be the only person with this opinion: The Sims has always been a series where you are supposed to build your idea of a perfect neighborhood with your unique sims. Doesn't the neighborhood ...

I mostly play rotationally, and wouldn’t mind story progression if I could turn it on and off per family, or just turn it off completely. I could see using if it in a legacy family or something like that, otherwise I might find it as more of a annoyance.
