Sims Celebrating Thanksgiving Picture Thread

I know I'm chancing putting this up cause a lot of simmers dont have their sims celebrate Thanksgiving but if yours does I'd love to see some pics.
  • Hello catloverplayer, in my country we don't celebrate Thanksgiving, which is such a shame, I think its a marvellous idea. We all have so much to be thankful for. I was so amazed to see your post, I haven't been on the forums for many years. I got bored with Sims 4 and gamed on my playstation 4 the last few years and today decided to pop in, and was so happy to see and remembered your name.
  • We do not have Thanksgiving either (or rather we already had our version of it). But my sims are living in the Great Lakes region, so they should celebrate it. I'll treat my fav families to a nice feast and post screenshots later!
  • My sims had a great day and I’m back with photos. Lots of photos, therefore I spoilered all of them except for the one in church and the one showing the feast. (Don’t mind their house being decorated for Christmas already, please!)

    Meet the Andersons:
Hank Anderson-Ichmawin, an old adult, Police lieutenant
Oumaima Ichmawin-Anderson, a young elder, Hank’s wife, Chief of police (future Judge)
Connor Anderson, YA, Hank’s son, Oumaima’s step-son, Secret Agent
Kara Archer, YA, Connor’s girlfriend, Housewife
    Alice Archer, child, Kara’s daughter
Sumo, Hank’s elderly (I think) St. Bernard

Disclaimer: None of those sims are mine. Oumaima is game-generated, the rest I got from the gallery.

Preparations for the holiday start the evening before. Kara encourages her daughter to draw something she feels thankful for. I select “people” and wait what Alice will choose to draw. Turns our it is a woman and child – Kara and herself being together? Aw, such a dear!

Also a minor detail: the blue background and narrow yellowish foreground just has to be the beach of Sulani where the Andersons went for the summer holidays.

I didn’t tell you the family’s full backstory, suffice to say they’ve been through a lot. Being thankful for them being together like this isn’t Alice trying to be polite or a good child, but indeed something to be grateful for.

A little church is nestled into a stretch of forest on a hill overlooking Lake Erie. This is where Hank and Oumaima take Alice early in the morning to grant the parents some peace of mind to prepare the feast. I picture the older Anderson couple as religious, although not regular churchgoers. Connor is agnostic and Kara I’m not sure about.

(That’s “Alpine Church” from the gallery and the First Snow mod, b.t.w.)

    https://abload.de/img/3cskk9.jpg
Inside the church the community has raised a Wall of Thanks where visitors can leave texts or pictures about the things they are thankful for. Sadly this is just for storytelling, Alice cannot “really” put her drawing up here.

It’s still early, so the couple leashes Sumo and takes Alice scavenger hunting in the neighborhood. First Sumo digs something up, then Alice unearths a treasure map (definitely placed there the night before by Hank)

    Spoiler
    https://abload.de/img/52hj0l.jpg
The map leads to a rare My Sims doll. The other two action figures Alice got from two frog catching spots (and were also hidden there by the grandparents, of course). Not a bad haul at all!

Back home the final preparations are underway: Kara bakes an apple pie, Hank helps Alice with the homework, Connor fills apple cider into the punch bowl fountain and Sumo needs a bath.

Everyone took a day off work/school. Also note that I do not have Seasons, so this isn’t a scored holiday event.

    https://abload.de/img/7ixkoe.jpg
The family sits down for the feast. Everyone is in their Sunday Best and of course Sumo got his own feast, too, from the pet dishes selection.

Unfortunately Kara cannot make roast chicken yet. I could have served carp or crown roast, but wanted a bird, so I cheat-summoned two (normal for everyone, tofu for vegetarian Connor). In-story I think Kara tried, then Connor tried, too, and then they both cleaned the mess up and ordered a ready-made turkey from a nearby restaurant.

“Ah! Much better than the kitchen fire!”

    “Kitchen fire?!“
“Haha! Don’t mind the kids! They’re just pulling your leg!”

    Spoiler
    https://abload.de/img/1069ju0.jpg
Even though Sumo has his own dish, he gets a sample of the turkey.

Afterwards the apple cider gets served. Non-alcoholic in Hank’s and Alice’s case, hard cider for the other three.

My sims are pretty full now, but sending them on the treadmill is thoroughly un-festive! Still, stretching their limbs will do the them some good. Why not shove the furniture into a corner and dance a little?

At first the idea leads nowhere, except to proving once again that Connor is a terrible show-off.

    Spoiler

    Now that’s better !

(I placed down a dance floor and then put the carpet over it, raised by exactly one click. Works like a charm and I wish I had thought of that earlier.)

Sims still being full to the brim, but I want to see them dig into apple pie. Connor and Kara blow each other kisses (and try to ignore Alice’s spider from the spring decoration).

    Spoiler
    https://abload.de/img/15gyjts.jpg
“Noooooo, you’re mean! Don’t toss out my spider! It’s cold outside! – Granny, please tell mom and dad to leave the spider alone!”

Nah, only joking. Nobody’s arguing, kid’s just telling a story.

I’ve been waiting for night to fall. From the recent H&H festival where their team won, the family still has a nice stash of fireworks that they bring out now. Alice gets a harmless sparkler – I just love them and I especially love that kids are allowed to play with them.

The Andersons have invited their neighbors over before starting the spectacle.

Gavin and Daniel Reed are cops, too, and went from bitter enemies of the Andersons to somewhat unpredictable, but no longer hostile neighbors. Come to think of it, this development is something else to be thankful for today for my sims.

    Spoiler
    https://abload.de/img/1832kgk.jpg
The night air is clear, as is the metaphorical air between the gathered sims. I started this save in September 2018 and back then it was an unwelcoming place full of hostility. Looking back at how far the sims have come is a very satisfying feeling.

Aaaand Gavin and Daniel are over each other again, just like always. They also do this at work when I play Hank at the police station and it is absolutely adorable.

    Spoiler
    https://abload.de/img/20iqkam.jpg
Did I say the Andersons and the Reeds get along great now? I MAY have overexaggerated a bit. Sure, the hosts offered the guests some of their leftover turkey, but it is the icky tofu one that even Connor didn’t like. (This is because cheat-summoned food is of normal quality only.)

    Spoiler
    https://abload.de/img/21mgjgk.jpg
Looks like Daniel had one glass too many: He tries to toast Sumo (who reacts aggressively when he wakes up. I have no idea what interaction exactly Daniel has used here).

    Spoiler
    https://abload.de/img/22xgjv9.jpg
When Gavin of all people voluntarily did the dishes, I knew it was time to end the event and send everyone into bed.

  • aaaaw so adorable, thank you for sharing the lovely pictures!!
