I'm glad you got it playing! I wonder what the issue is with the new patch though? Could it be Steam related somehow? Or perhaps that save is corrupted in some way.
It plays, but it's not the 2025 version, that All y'all are on. it's 2017. that said, it IS nice to see old faces that I've not seen in almost Ten Years 😮! I've been missing my Sara Jane Sim (last played on 12/17/17)!
