So I finally got this game

They were giving away Sims 4 base game for free on Origin back in May or something, I forget and so I nabbed it up because why not? I also bought Cats & Dogs expansion for sale on Amazon a few days ago.

First thing I noticed is the loading screens are fast. I went into Create A Sim and the Sims looks so much more realistic. I mean, I noticed that from the Create a Sim demo they sent out a few years back, but it's worth mentioning again. And it seems more stable than Sims 3.

I go into playing the actual game. I like how where the Sims can have a conversation with more than one Sim at a time. I also like how the careers are all available and you don't have to wait for them to show up on the computer or phone randomly. I like the build mode. It took me a while to figure it out but I got the hang of it pretty quickly.

I also like how the Sims emotions show up on their profile, like happy, uncomfortable, etc and it shows you what contributes to it. I also like how Sims don't seem to get stuck if a Sim or an item are in the way of where they are trying to go, they just walk around it.

The interactions with both other Sims, toddlers, and pets is a lot more realistic. Like my Sim swung his daughter around and put her on his back, it just a lot more interactive. Jogging with dogs in this game is new as well and it was a nice surprise to see that option available, along with giving your dog a short, medium or long walk. I also was surprised to see that pets can be neutered/spayed in this game as well as the fact that they also go number two. I also like the fact that you can make puppies/kittens in CAS and put costumes on pets as well.
I like how toddlers can go up and down stairs and you don't have to carry them up and down. And they sleep in toddler beds and not cribs. I like that.
There are also dog doors. I was shocked when I saw that in Build mode.

There are some things about this game that I don't like, like how Sims have some weird obsession with reading books but that could just be my Sims. And how Bella Goth keeps showing up at my Sims house and never leaves. I want cars back too. And it doesn't seem like there are dog houses in this game. I looked, I didn't find any.

So in all, I'm actually feeling a bit bad about how I judged this game few years ago (without having played it nonetheless) but I'm glad I gave it a shot because I'm actually really enjoying it. And I am planning on buying more expansion packs in the near future. Just waiting for the price to drop again.

Now I want to share some pictures of my Sims now from Sims 4

Edit: Correction, they gave the base game away for free on Origin in May not July.

  • I am glad you enjoy for the most part.

I find the sims expressive which I like. They have different personalities. One may like to read but another decided to pick up programming on her own and even created a mod on her own which no other sim has done. They all seem to have different interest. I had a kleptomaniac that got tense when she does take things and will always take things from work, I had angry sims stomp around, slam things and pick fights as they were hot-headed, goofballs will greet sims differently, etc...it is as deep as you make it; but they do plenty on their own if you let them. Even with family sims, children will hug their parents, parents will tutor their children, etc...a lot small details you may miss if not paying attention or just speed up the game. Somethings I didn't even know about for a long time.

The game has always been about letting players chose what they want, which is what I really like.

It is stable, more customization which is great. Now I can pick hats for different hair styles and can layer accessories which really allowed me to creates how I wanted. I actually can build lots without crashing or taking forever. I used to avoid building.

Also funny watching them learn new skills. Cooking they will drop things, hit the pan trying to keep food from burning, etc...

One bride even smashed a piece of cake in her husbands face like in the trailer. Only happened once; but that was so funny to see.

One vampire got upset after a break up and kept wanting to go outside and had to keep sending her back inside as she didn't have the sun resistant trait yet. I actually felt sad for her. She had that weakness of uncontrollable hissing, so sims didn't like her much and her relationship dropped.

  • Glad you gave this game a chance, that free offer really was a steal. I would recommend getting mods though, Sims 4 has an extremely active, creative and innovative modding community, so be sure to explore the realm of mods to spice up your game even more.

Oh a few more things I noticed that I like

Sims automatically wash their hands after using the bathroom. And they scrape plates off into the trash can before washing them.
And you can choose which kind of pizza your Sim orders.

@jimmysnan Thank you. Yeah, Sims (no matter which one is it) is a great escape from reality. Anything is possible in this game and that's why I like them so much.

Yes, I do love that feature. Just have to share this rather precious moment in my game from awhile back. That's the wedding cake nobody has had a bite of yet:

True enough, this was taking cleaning to the extreme, but then in a different save, this happened: The muffin sent by a fan had gone bad Erik didn't want his pregnant new wife to eat it without cleaning it, first:

To make certain it was germ-free he decided to let the dishwasher sterilize it:

Got to love this game. He did this entirely on his own. :o

LOL I never seen anyone wash a muffin before. That was amusing.
