There are plenty of people that will not touch something if it is not on Steam, and honestly the only reason I have Origin is the Sims. Granted for a long time I resisted the digital distribution train in general. So, yeah, it is there to make money. Nothing more, nothing less.
They came back and marked the price of their previous games higher. In some regions Sims 3 used to be cheap on Steam but now cost twice as expensive after EA came back to Steam.
