Also, if you want your Sims to be really affected by temperature you would send them out in everyday wear as the hot and cold category clothing completely insulates them from temperature effects no matter what clothing you add to those categories. So for example if you add a swimsuit as a cold weather outfit then your sim can wear a bikini in a blizzard and not feel the cold at all. But if you add that same swimsuit to the swim category and send them out in the blizzard now they are at risk of freezing to death if you don't warm them up. You can wear a parka in a heatwave if it's in the hot category and go about your day just fine, but if you have it classed under everyday then that same parka in the heat becomes a potential death trap unless you change or seek air conditioning in a building with the new thermostat set to cool.
