Pardon me for kicking an old thread, but I just had the same thing happen and came to see if it was normal. Not in the social media career, but uploaded a video and got +600k followers, pushing me to 600,374. (My last action, an image upload, was only a +25 bonus.) On top of this, the message indicated that the video I uploaded was panned! Horrible quality! Makes me wonder how many of those new followers are in it for the schadenfreude.
Anyway, two additional questions also popped up as a result of my recent Sim-social media use, so if anyone peeks in and sees my post...
1: I take it this update message on new followers for each upload was added with City Living, because of that carreer?
2: What happened to the "Invent New Hashtags" interaction?
