This has to be an easter egg for the upcoming story-driven Finding Nemo GP

This is annoying, especially when my played sims outside of my current household decide to be OOC and talk about that overrated fish.

I had this happen the other day, I thought it was a glitch, isn’t it?

If it's discovering new types fish, then it's because of a automatic social interaction. If fish are appearing in your sims' inventory, then your game is bugged.

As a vegan, I find this Sim fishing obsession super annoying.

For me it was the pop up saying she discovered new fish types. She was chit chatting at Stargazer Lounge with someone and I got the notification she had discovered a new type of fish, and to check the notebook. No fish appeared in her inventory though. So you’re saying this is intentional? If so it fine by me, I don’t mind it. I just don’t remember it being something that’s happened before.

It is super annoying how often this happens! I hope they tone it down. In general, I like the feature though. It’d be cool if conversations could provide other benefits - new cooking or baking recipes, fitness tips that give a small skill boost, secret word to get into that swanky Del Sol Valley club, an insider shares a discount on a Granite Falls cabin or a fancy dinner, etc.

Sims are teaching each other about fish when neither of them even have the fishing skill, and sometimes a notification might pop up about someone outside of your active household learning about a new fish. Which is...great for them, but I don't need to know about it! Something has definitely gone very wrong.
