Spellcaster question

Is there any disadvantage to having your spellcaster live in a different world besides Glimmerbrook besides the loading screens just to get to the magic portal?
  • Glimmerbrook also has many spellcaster npcs which is good if u r into dueling. It also has some of the plants required for the potion recipes but you can find them in other places too.
That being said there is no huge advantage in living in glimmerbrook. My spellcasters rarely live there.
  • I've played with spellcasters in just about every other world and never had a problem.

You can buy the plants needed in the Starter Spellcaster plants seed pack, and after a couple trips to the magic realm (which you can do with the glimmerstone in your sim's inventory. The gate is only required for non-spellcasters to visit the magic realm.) the game has usually generated enough random npc's that you don't need to worry about visiting to have some other spellcasters for your sims to interact with. You'll see them arriving places by broom.

The portal works just like the one at Glimmerbrook, and takes sims to Magic HQ. However, exiting from Magic Realm through the portal still takes sims to Glimmerbrook by default.

Yes I was wondering about that. Thanks for confirming.
  • I just created a new spellcaster family for henford on bagley but also have spellcasters in San mychuno, windenburg, willow creek. I have them travel to the magic realm with their glimmerstone.

Oh, this is a good idea. I will add the portal the park in hob to my starter save. There is also a version of the magic realm market stalls (without the broken floating buildings) in debug which I might add.

I almost never exit through the portal. I just hit the 'm' key and send my sims directly to any lot in any world. Sims can also learn a spell to travel back home.

One can even put portals (from the Buy Debug menu) in other worlds, as well, if desired.
I put one in the National Park lot, in Bramblewood in Henford-on-Bagley, for instance.

TL;DR - there's no very compelling reason to feel limited to having a Spellcaster live in Glimmerbrook.

Now why didn't I think of that! I use the Glimmerstone but that has a cool down period.
