Thanks again for your quick reply. I think I deleted all of the basement - both floors, burt maybe I should have deleted in in a different way than I did. I just clicked each room and deleted them until there were no more walls on that basement floor. No idea if the game actually understood that I had deleted the basement... might have to give it another go.
