It works best if you have all the guests in your household so you can control them, and yes turning off free will is a must lol. I have one sim take enough servings of food and put each plate in their inventory. Then I make everyone sit. Then I drag a plate in front of each sims. While on pause, I select the “eat” option for each sim and then I unpause. You can start a couple conversations after they all have been told to eat so it’s not just everyone eating in silence lol. Even then, there’s still only such a limited amount of time that you can get a good screenshot ?
This is about the same method I use. It is tricky to get them all to sit and eat at the right time. Only difference is I didn't drag the plate in front of them but told them to eat directly from their inventory. I also find the buffet table (luxury party stuff/wedding stories) convenient for getting enough food quickly without spending much time in live mode to cook.
