The Cold weather tagging needs serious improvement

I don't know who did the tagging for cold weather, but there are SOOO many outfits in the game I've noticed that are hidden from cold weather like many sweaters/jackets. Almost all of the sweaters, hoodies and jackets should be cold weather tagged, but they're not. I wind up just removing the tag so I can have more options, but my townies look the same over and over.

Here's some visual examples of cold weather outfits I made that aren't tagged in the game. I seriously didn't want to flood this thread with pictures or anything, so I only took three examples for each gender, but trust me, there's tons more.

  • The game doesn't use "Cold Weather" for anything but going outside when it's cold. Those aren't outfits I want to see Sims not freezing in unless I've chosen to make it so, which works for anything I override the tag for and place in a Sim's cold weather slot.

@luthienrising One of the coldest winters in a long time here, with temperature's reaching down to 0-10 degrees Fahrenheit and up to a foot of snow and I haven't worn anything except a light hoodie once.

Honestly it's usually the wind chill that requires warmer clothes.

Also, I got maybe the blizzard argument, but how do you explain these then? (They're tagged as cold weather) These are no different than the sweaters/hoodies I've shown in my pictures, yet these are tagged as cold weather. The freezing argument doesn't really apply.

  • I agree! Hopefully at some point they'll improve the tagging for all the paid content in the game. I can't see it taking too long, but then again I know nothing about programming. (I tried to learn once. Let's just say I think I should stick with other things I can do)
  • I would like more options for cold weather but not sure if all of the suggestions would work. A lot of the (women) clothing are too open around the neck or have 3/4 sleeves which would absolutely not work where I'm from. Skirts are fine with leggings, I'm more worried about the neck and arms. I find that there are just too few cold weather options overall, especially for women.

I love scarves in real life, and I've often wished I had them for my Sims, for this very reason. I just cringe at the bare neck in some of the cold weather outfits.

I completely agree. There are many clothes that should have the cold weather tag.
  • I change the hot and especially cold weather outfits from the defaults a fair bit.
