The I'm Bored Thread
I don't think I'm the only one. I would like to hear from others like me who are bored with the game and or the entire franchise. I think my boredom is starting to spill over into the entire franchi...

I think a FreeTime/Hobbies pack would help, but I really think the reason we are all bored with the game is because of its poor core design, choosing to focus all on these emotions. Beyond achieving a handful of aspirations over and over again and maxing out one career per Sim, what else is there to really do? Were there really major innovations to gameplay that we haven't had since TS2?
A hobbies pack will get extremely boring fast if all it does is add additional skills, objects, and animations. There needs to be some depth behind it all to make it meaningful and replayable. We need more things to work towards and more goals, IMHO, and that doesn't exactly mean more skills.
As it is, I feel the existing skills we have such as fishing, cooking, gardening etc. should be designed to be more important to gameplay. Like imagine if we simply do not have the option to magically poof in ingredients for our Sims. What if they'll starve unless they actually work hard for their money, go collecting veggies/fruits, or fish from the nearby lake? That's the kind of thing I really want in this series, and it remains one of my favorite parts of TS2.
I have to say I don’t agree with all her points. Rabbit holes for example. I don’t want activities to come back just to be a rabbit hole. That’s not game play.
I agree a hobbies pack would be boring as much as the game could do with more activities because like you say @Sk8rblaze i don’t think it will have depth. It will be an activity your sims do once and get a moodlet. And it most likely will be recycled off the back off something else.
I know, I’m essentially saying they cannot win- give us hobbies and people complain, don’t give us hobbies and people complain but my point is everything added to the game doesn’t seem to be designed for longevity. There’s very rarely surprises with new objects. It’s a moodlet and most of the time a happy moodlet. Every object is a happiness booster.
The sims 2 freetime built on existing skills and wove it onto the hobby system as well as giving us new hobbies and activities. I just don’t see the sims 4 being that in depth. Call me cynical.
Yeah, I'm not a fan of rabbitholes either. The magic of the Sims was always being able to interact with those little people you'd see roaming around the cities in SimCity. Staring at buildings belongs in that title, not The Sims.
In an open world format, I see their purpose. Less to simulate and more attention on the world, but in a closed world, we really should be able to interact with all lots, inside and out. In fact, I feel the whole neighborhood should have been open, rather than just one lot, but that's a discussion for another topic, lol.
