Sim Guru Grant has said they have no plans for a castaway type pack. Sadly.

I don’t think he would purposefully say it’s not currently planned if it was in development. (Castaway remake that is)

Good luck with that. EA don't share nicely unless they have some deal with someone and they never share their franchise games. They are too big, have too much money, and way too many lawyers keeping other places away from their stuff. Zygna found out in a heartbeat and quickly over one of The Sims social games on facebook. EA squashed them like a pancake.

I don't think the main series team makes any of the side games anyway. They generally hire new people. They did for all the rest as well as I can recall. So on that you'd be right. I know the life stories games were actually designed for players with lesser computers - they even called them laptop games when they came out as even fairly low end lap tops could play them - so they don't need the systems that the Sims teams use to make them anyway. Just like these new people they hired that is what they do for a new side game. My guess is possibly some on the order of Medieval maybe. As that game was designed to take additional packs unlike the Castaways and other lifestories - and the job listing more or less shows what ever this is they want it to take other packs. That is not saying it is Medieval as I don't know - but I would guess something on that order - maybe a new idea as it seems to indicate something very new.
I don't feel it would be Sims 5 though - as the series team would have influx in all that especially Lyndsay as she has been there with all the Sims series games since Sims 1 and Grant (since Sims 2) as well. But then you never know.
