The Sims teams are giving you what you're asking for, they add a slightly different take on it for each iteration to try to freshen it up but it's mostly the same content over and over as per player demand. When the Sims teams do innovate there's a segment of the player base who go into a rage. Which way do players want it, a rehash of all the old material or fresh and innovative because it's kind of one or the other. A rehash of old stuff will always get stale the fastest.
Well maybe players wouldn't have to demand these same packs over and over again if they would just come in the base game like they already should. Wasn't seasons supposed to be included in TS2 basegame but they couldn't get it to work in time for release so they had to make it an expansion?
Like, yeah. I'll always be a player who demands seasons, pets, and university. Because those things are pretty integral to a lot of peoples lives. And this IS a life sim. But when they reimplement those features in ways much watered down from previous iterations, then yeah I'm gonna be upset about it. This is TS4. You're Supposed to innovate with every new generation. But to take away features for seemingly no reason other than "it's hard" doesn't hold a lot of water for me. Like, that's their job. To make this game. They're not some poor indie studio. It's friggin EA. And they've made millions off of TS4 alone.
Plus, there's a difference between "rehashing" old features from previous games that a lot of people liked, and "rehashing" systems and CAS/build items we've already paid for in TS4 itself. Snow Escape is probably the best example of that. It's basically City Living, Outdoor Retreat, Jungle Adventure, Fitness Stuff, and Spa Day combined with a different coat of paint. Plus I'm still upset at Snowy Escape for basically being a gamepack anyway. As someone who owns Seasons, I hate that my sims can only go sledding in One world. Plus we don't even have snow depth. I see more features being taken away then they are iterated on to be honest. And the price still remains the same...
