Personally I feel they compliment each other well. It was a very close tie for me between the two. I love the cottage farm life and certainly do not find it boring in any way. But then I don't feel a need to rush through everything. The Laid back life is great. I currently combine the off the grid and simple life as it offers me not only more gameplay but also more challenging gameplay.

Either way you choose you win. But once you can combine the two it gets even better. <3
