What you didn't like: I didn't mind the lack of pools and toddlers. When I heard about the lack of story progression I was even excited because in the Sims 3 it was impossible to have multiple households in the same game because when you switch out of one household for another the sims that you spent hours on building relationships/work/school with start missing work, cheating on spouses/boyfriend/girlfriend or getting into fights with other sims and slacking off on homework. I was excited for the Sims 4 because I thought it would eliminate this problem but it appears I was mistaken. If skills aren't effected by changing households than why can't that be so for job/school progression and relationship progression?
I left my original household so my mother could make her sim in another house -excited that I wouldn't have to worry about my sims running crazy while she played- but when I returned to them after only a few hours one of them had already become "lovebirds" with another sim and it obviously wasn't in my plan for her.
My suggestion is to turn off or at least make an option to turn off these effects on relationship and job/school progression for inactive households. I don't mind them running around town but I don't want anything they do while I'm not playing them to actually apply to their relationships and school/job progression. I'm not sure if job/school progression is effected like relationship progression is on sims 4 but my assumption is that it is the same.
Besides this problem I am having a minor annoyance with the camera refusing to shift backwards when I try to edge scroll that way. In order to back up I have to turn the screen sideways and edge scroll to the side.
I also miss the color wheel and the ability to customize things. This limited color choice is a downgrade from Sims 3.
I also want the option to assign beds like we could in Sims 3.
For now these are my only issues. Since we preordered the premium game I am intent on enjoying it the best I can.
Other things I enjoy is the gardening (so far) and of course the emotions and multitasking is a plus. My mother and I both really love the amount of sims that show up to lots but that now appears to be a double edged sword since relationships progression is still on for my sims that come onto the lots while she plays. I like the task that you have to do to move up in work and aspiration, it gives extra goals to achieve. I love the CAS and Build Mode, it was my biggest draw to get sims 4.
I am neutral on the lack of lots in the towns we have now because I can remember all to well the moments of frustration trying to place a lot on Sims 3. Anyone pick up a 40X40 lot and try to place another 40x40 and it suddenly not fit in the precise spot it was before?
I also don't mind the lack of cars and the loading screens brings me back to Sims 2 except now they are much faster. Hopefully that won't change if I decide to mod.
