Aloha fellow Simmers,
Haven't had a chance to dig in SUPER heavy to the game but I've certainly got a few likes and dislikes thus far
That being said - for Likes:
~ The emotional states are fantastic and add some great depth. Being able to power my learning of music by inspiring myself? Superb!
~ Loading times - Sims 3 was just...painful. Utterly painful. Granted, it was seamless after that but I always found Sims 3 peformance to be a lackluster animal. Sims 4, despite the addition of more load bars, is fast, fluid and plays very well. Saving is also quite quick - greatly appreciate this.
~ CAS is exceptional - the addition of tug & pull type of modifications to Sim bodies is very welcome.
~ Lifetime goal/Aspirations - the mini-steps in the process are great!
~ Multi-tasking - AMG. Can't say enough about how awesome this is! I can listen to music WHILE cooking/eating? Why thank you BasedMaxis >.>
~ Group Convos - yep, I can finally have a horde of loyal mini-err, friends without having to chain talk to everyone in the room in an endless loop of "Funny -> Joke -> Hug" cycles xD
Dislikes:
~ The smaller size of the worlds plus the lack of a seamless transition is...jarring. I understand the why but after the Sims 3 and it's very nice open world feel, this was a bit of a letdown.
~ You have a music career again, and like Sims 3 - no Rockstar option plus a distinct lack of rock guitar options?
~ The removal of the color customization wheel is regrettable. While I suspect the more detailed visuals and objects may have necessitated this, it's still a sad thing to see removed.
~ I miss being able to dictate the things I could do at work - how I choose to work, etc.
~ No vehicles OR pools? Le-sad. I can smell this coming in an EP a mile away though >.>
~ I agree with other posters that somehow, the time per day feels a bit too short compared with how much work we have to do to maintain our Sims emotional states AND having time to pursue fun stuff on the side as we rank up in career. I've hit only Tier 2 for Musician/Entertainer and it wants me to have 4 friends to get a promotion. Given how compressed the days are, 4 friends is tough enough and this is only Tier 2? Ouch >.>
I'm sure I'll have more to add to this as I dig in deeper. But despite the grumps and the inevitable dread for how many EPs will be rolled out, it's a blast to play. The sheer emotional weight the characters can portray leads to some pretty great moments :)
