Played the game for the very first time today, and somehow, several hours passed by super fast while playing. I LOVE THIS GAME!!!! I am a huge fan of the Sims 2, so I like that this game is much similar to it in a lot of ways...don't get me wrong though, there are some things I truly hate about the Sims 4, but overall, it's a work of art, and has lots of potential for future game play.
Lets start with what I love: The new sims are soooo much more attractive than the Sims 3. I could never really get into that previous game simply because they were so hideous. The interactions of these new sims are comical, endearing, and a pleasant change. Oddly enough, they remind me of interactions the Sims 2 sims had. They do some quirky things, and that's why I love these games so much. The emotions, though not as complex as I had expected, they are still cool to play with now. I agree that they do make your sims seem more real. The other additions like walk style, tone of voice, and personality traits help give each sim a unique personality that was very lackluster in previous games. I love playing with autonomy on, and watching my sims interact with others and themselves, it's pretty funny. The graphics now are also a HUGE improvement imo. I could barely run the Sims 3 before with their "superior graphics," it was ridiculous. This game goes to show that you can have beautiful graphics and still keep a computer running smooth. (I've experienced no bugs, glitches, or crashes in the four hours I played.) I might be one of the few who actually like the new create a sim. For me, it's much easier and more fun to make sims than before. I made about a dozen in 30 minutes, and they are all beautiful. It used to take me about an hour per sim in other games just to make one attractive sim. I like the different worlds, although, I agree with others, not enough lots for houses :( The new style of building though is also much quicker and easier, and I really like that too. I love that it's much easier for my sims to make friends now and build connections with new people. There's always sims walking through the neighborhood, and it's easier to stop and approach them. These are just a handful of my favorite parts from the Sims 4.
Here's what I hate: I am really upset about the new camera controls, they are a pain in the butt for sure. I really don't even get why they changed them, it's dumb. I also really hate that the build mode controls are so finicky...it took me forever to rotate my furniture, and I started to get very frustrated. It shouldn't be like that. I hate the roof tool also, it doesn't seem to work the way I think it was meant to work. As I mentioned earlier, I hate that there are not enough lots for houses. The game expects you to create a new sim every time you play, but we have no where to put them all. That's another thing I don't really care for is that every time I start the game, I have to go through CAS. I also wish that there was more time in the sim's day so that they could accomplish more. I've used cheats so that I could have time to explore and what not before tying my sim down with a job, but once you have a job, it seems to take over and your sim loses their life in a sense. I do not like the fact that there is not that many clothing or color options, but it's something I can live without. I wish that male sims had different hairstyles, and I do wish that teens looked more like teens. I do not miss toddlers one bit, lol. I always thought they were a pain to take care of. Yes, they were cute, but such a burden! I also miss the NPC's...particularly the burglar and fireman. Overall, I think I have more pros then cons for the game, and I do think that in time, once expansions come out, this game will be a classic.
