I have to say that so far I really love this game. It may even be my favorite of the Sims games, and I have played since Sims 1.
What I liked: Everything! I thought this game was going to be awful because of all the things that were left out, but instead I am finding myself really enjoying absolutely everything. My favorite points are: 1. Great CAS. I love how I can make my sims look unique and they can look so similar to real people. 2. The animations are really smooth and look amazing. 3. Sims don't throw fits because they're stuck in doorways now, which is awesome. And I like how they navigate around the environment very realistically. 4. Emotions. Interesting concept that I hope gets more developed in future expansions. 5. Careers and Aspirations. I like that there are mini goals to achieve for each of these and that the goals are not super boring like previous games (i.e., it's more than just 'increase this skill some more'). 6. The many objects in the game! And so many skills! It really feels full, and much more complete than previous base games.
What I didn't like: 1. There aren't very many traits in the game which I think makes it less customizable and fun. 2. There are no seasons or weather which is a big disappointment at this stage of the game. 3. No pools. I couldn't care less about toddlers but I'm sure they'll be added. I want my sims to be able to go swimming though. I really miss that. 4. I also don't like that there aren't very many places to travel to.
Suggestions? I think there definitely needs to be some development to both the traits system and to emotions. Like, there doesn't seem to be much variety in the whims that come up, so they become a little tedious after a while. I also desperately want weather back in the game, and as always just more things for sims to do and see.
Overall thoughts? Fantastic game. It's so much better than I thought it was going to be, and I am seriously addicted to it. I have almost stayed home from work to play. Very fun and it can only get better.
