@mcrudd Wow, thank you so much for all your efforts! Now I know it's definitely my problem and not a general problem.
My guess is that it's either mod-related (although I can't imagine which of my mods could be causing this) or that everything is fine and it simply didn't work the first time I tried (like how my very first teenager got kicked out of high school for no reason, but it never happened again; first times seem to be difficult for me). I haven't played with horses this week, but I'll try again soon.
Anyway, I didn't mean to derail this thread with my little problems, so here's some more screenshots of Mariel getting used to riding and jumping with Raijin and still not feeling quite safe yet.
