I tried so hard. I was hard on Sims 4 because I wanted it to be better. I believed it could be better. Despite its flaws, I had fun with it and thought that it could be great if it just had more effort put into it. Even when we got packs that were blatantly worse than previous Sims equivalents, I still held out hope that the next packs could be better. I was willing to live without things I desperately wanted (the small pets of TS3, TS2's take on retail, either games' Servos) because I still believed Sims 4 could succeed in other aspects and stand up on its own.
I wanted Sims 4 to go on for a long time so it can get a lot of content. Even if it's not as good as other games, I still had fun and believed that it deserved to have more content and opportunities. I wanted it to be the best it could be. Also, I held on because Sims 5 could easily be worse. As bad as Sims 4 can be, the alternative could be a nightmare. I've been in franchises that seemed to hit rock bottom, then go lower. Better stick with the devil you know, right?
It's been years and nearly every single pack has proven that I shouldn't have had any faith in them in the first place. Scummy business practices and out of touch devs told me not to have faith. This miserable year has been a series of kicks to the face as the game continually tells me that it won't change.
I just can't do it anymore. I don't think I can. I think it's time to move on from TS4 because it's clear that it's a sinking ship. But with the way things are going, I'm 100% sure that TS5 will be another nightmare. Sorry for the rant, but yeah. I feel like we're damned with Sims 4, and we're damned without it.
