The items that I saw in the trailer were not just simple recolors of what was in cats and dogs. Nor am I sure that this was something they planned on doing so soon after the expack. I remember many people were upset about there being no small pets in the expansion, as well as disappointed with how few pet beds we got with the expansion. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a response to those posts. While it would have been preferable to have cat/dog items with the expack, I'm still happy with the expack I got, since all I really wanted was mainly the cats/dogs themselves and the b/b objects. I've used them heavily in my game since.
I think I'm more confused over what this all means; in the future, (this is simply an example) will we maybe see more types of washers/dryers in other packs, and if so, will it require purchase of the Laundry Day stuff pack? Because, on one hand, I would love to see more variations of items, but I'm unsure about how I feel about the idea of people buying a pack that would have no functionality without another pack.
That said, I understand why people want it. I myself have bought practically every pack they've done so far, with the exception of Jungle Adventures. But I knew I would get it eventually. I tend to buy everything, simply because I like having the options. Sims 3 is actually the only iteration where I don't have every single stuff/expansion pack. And that was because of the sims store. I'm really unsure on how I feel about all of this, but I understand both points of view.
