When I played sims 3 I had no idea what expansions were coming out until they were released, I didn’t feel I needed any specific expansion to make game my game complete because even base game was so much fun, but after playing sims 4 base game for a day I felt like I needed multiple expansion packs to get the same fun as sims 3 base game if you get me. I feel bad for the sim gurus who are trying their best but ultimately I think the main issue lies within the foundation of the game and with each new pack we are growing more and more frustrated because it’s just not getting to the root of the problem. This is my view anyway and I totally accept others will feel completely different so please be kind :)
