That sounds about right that the series would end in the year 2020. The only time we did get 2 expansion packs in 1 year was 2015 with GTW April 2015 and Get Together November 2015. City Living 2016... maybe Pets/Seasons could be the next big expansion for 2017. And I seriously doubt 2 expansions would release this year... maybe 2 expansions close together... say, EP Q3 with another EP Q1-2018/Q2-2018.
And I don't mean to rain on anybody's parade or break any high hopes, but nobody has yet confirmed, at least to my knowledge, of a Sims 5. Sometimes good things come to an end, and sometimes good things continue to thrive and prosper. I do hope for a Sims 5, but with EA closing down some of their other Maxis Studios... mainly the one that developed the failed Sim City 2013... EA is a greedy money-hungry corporation, which unfortunately Maxis works under. If only Maxis could become its own developing company and detach itself from the EA name.
We're in year 3 with 10 stuff packs, 4 game packs, and 3 expansion packs. With 3 more years, we could see at least another 10-15 stuff packs, 4-6 game packs, and maybe 3-4 more expansions. So there's still a lot of time between now and 2020 for the game to feel more complete. At least game packs do make up for the lack of expansions and is directed towards one overall theme, rather than several themes smacked into one expansion.
I was really hoping for Witches GP this year, but I highly doubt they would release 3 GPs in 1 year. The Family GP looks promising. I still hope that Pets will be the next EP aimed for a Summer/Autumn 2017 release.
I just don't want people to get their hopes up too high about a Sims 5. Nothing has been confirmed on a Sims 5. Back in 2014 or 2015 an EA official spokesperson stated that if TS4 sold poorly that there would not be another Sims game, which sounds legit. Why would a company develop another game if the previous installment was negatively received with poor sales? That's a company losing more money and resources and trying to make up for years upon years of projects. It's just not good business. But if The Sims 4 holds out for another 3 years a lot could change. Sales could vastly improve and get the positive recognition, which would give hope to a Sims 5 game.
So to those who hate TS4 and want TS5... you may want and hope TS4 delivers as long as it can, because if fans continue to hate TS4 it's very well possible this could be the end of the journey for us all.
