I know it's just a dream... I think if they don't make more EP it's just because they lost to much moneys with TS4.
From EA's financial report on Q4 FY17 which was released just a few days ago and was about January to March 2017:
"Monthly active users in Q4 for The Sims™ 4 increased 33% year-over-year."
Nothing indicates that EA lost money with TS4. But EA seems to have discovered that releasing SPs and other smaller expansions is much more profitable than just making bigger EPs. Therefore I alas don't think that there is any chance that EA will drop SPs or make bigger EPs instead.
I also saw a report where EA's CEO mentioned the Sims Freeplay as having been very profitable. So stuff and cheaper games and expansions are very likely to become even more the main focus for EA in the future.
