The Sims 5? Maxis Recruiting for “Exciting New Game in the Sims Franchise”

I enjoy reading all these comments. There are a lot of great ideas floating around on this site how to improve Sims 4 and future content and that includes Sims 5. I agree with @Cinebar this does fit in with the time frame of another three years of content for S4. I think this is a neat speculation. I am kinda excited not so much about spending more money on another game, but hey I cannot take my monies with me so might as well have some fun playing a game.

I would like to see some of the fun and spontaneity from S2 incorporated in S5. I like some darkenss to S4 make it harder for sims to die, I would love some natural disasters too. Which could enhance the jobs in our sims lives. Doctors responding, police, firemen etc. But this is just me, I know that there are some players that like this and some that don't. I think we could have a good in between. Again, I really love reading your comments about speculation, how you all play your games.

Anyone remember all the speculation over the next sims experience? What did we get? Seasons. :)

I think some over looked it says someone has to have PC gaming experience as a requirement. Another social game would not need pc gaming experience, and it says 3+ years working with Maya, which is used in PC gaming. Those are some really big clues it has to be a PC game, and using softare that can create deep textures, and detailed assets, in my opinion. Another social/mobile game may not require all that much experience. ETA: PC game equals The Sims series. :D

I can't say I want that. Because what was suppose to be an eco friendly pack, with power and water saving features, turned into a laundry pack. I'd rather the developers just follow through with something they envisioned, having TS1, TS2 and TS3 as a base, and keeping in mind general feedback from us on certain features previously made and the given new ideas on the forums. Directly changing something in the core game, in the hands of a whole community can go very wrong, we don't even know much about the costs of developing.

Good points. And you're right, it could go very wrong. After I posted that I thought more about it and decided it probably wouldn't be a good idea after all.

While I am not one to put much stock in scuttlebutt, particularly from the aforementioned website, I will sound off on my thoughts concerning a hypothetical Sims 5.

I am not planning on purchasing any Sims title until the content I desire is released -- namely vampires, pets and seasons. I've had enough over the last two installments playing the game in a holding pattern while watching and waiting. But if a game offers me the core Sims gameplay of The Sims 2 and The Sims 4 then it will be something I am interested in. If it is, as I suspect it may be, something along the gimmicky lines of The Sims 3 then I will give it a pass. I've spent too much time over too many titles wrestling with the shortcomings of open world games.

I think this is very telling that it is a new The Sims entry (if you ignore everything else):

Of course, this is all speculation based off phrasing, but from what it reads as, it looks like they are shooting to go with a more realistic art-style for the next game (perhaps like or beyond The Sims 3). The Sims 4, The Sims Mobile, My Sims, Sims Medieval, etc. all use a very unique, stylized art-style. Going for a more realistic approach in graphics is very time consuming, and costly. They would not take that approach for a spin off.

I don’t dare to hope (to be honest I’m very doubtful) but I’d love for you to be psychic today. IF this is Sims 5, I hope they’ll take all the time they need and this time around take both Sims 2 ánd 3 fans into consideration.

They’re better of doing cartoony with realistic elements, rather than realistic with cartoony elements.

The Sims 3 at times was a little bit too realistic when it came to Sim design. Child/Toddler Sims especially needed less realism and more cartoony aspects they were scary at times :joy:

Sims 4 toddlers are far more realistic than Sims 4 toddlers and in fact why I love them.

Well, if there is ever a Sims 5 game, I hope it provides support for rotational play, has toddlers at launch, has plenty of populated lots, and has lots of details and good Sim AI reactions and memories (like in Sims 2 and in Sims 3). I would love it if retail, open restaurants (that our sims can cook in!), ocean swimming and mermaids and fairies would come back again as well.

I want Sims 3’s creative and build tools and larger worlds as well, if possible.

I don't think EA would risk not having toddlers on a main sims game again. Honestly if that lightning stroke twice, I could see even lower sales for TS5, than TS4 at launch.
