When and if Sims5 becomes a real thing, I will wait a couple of years before investing in it. I've been through the process of purchasing a base game than waiting, and waiting, and waiting for DLC, and stuff, game and expansion packs to make the game feel complete, four times already. If they change the timing and manner of releasing packs or DLC, I 'might' consider investing in another iteration in The Sims franchise as soon as it is released. If we weren't left in the dark about new content for months on end I 'might' be interested in a Sims5. As communication with the gurus and EA has diminished, so has my overall excitement for the game itself. Every time they announce Sims4 will be going through another 'transition' then leave us wondering what that means, my right eye twitches uncontrollably. EA has been all over the map when it comes to Sims4 and new content. Frankly, I don't think EA knows what to do next or how to do it once they make up their minds about what that next step entails.
There has been news about staff members being hired over the last few months. And some people believe these newly-hired staff members will be working on developing Sims5. This could be true. Has anyone connected to EA made an announcement this is true? No. I believe they have been brought on board to work on projects relating to Sims4 that are long overdue for release. Three new packs in six months? Plus an expansion is almost always released before the holidays. That makes four packs that need to be finished before the end of the year. Throw in the fact there are bugs that need to be nuked (hopefully for the last time), and one can understand why more staff was hired. Game Changers have been invited to EA Play. That usually means an expansion is nearly ready to be released. In April Guru Graham announced we would see a game pack, a stuff pack and an expansion pack in the next six months. That takes us into October and the pre-holiday release of another expansion. These things cannot happen all on their own. It takes a lot of effort from many people in order to be successful given the timeline they set for themselves.
Sims5 will happen once Sims4 has reached the end of it's run. And who knows what it will be like. Speculation is a dangerous thing when there is very little to go on. We can wish and hope for certain things to be true, but it all boils down to what EA wants us to know. I know we have three new packs to look forward to before October. I'm excited about that and looking forward to what each one will add to the game.
