Sims 4 has been an emotional roller coaster for me. The missing toddlers and pools, the inconsistent mode of communication with its audience, the eventual breakdown of all communication and the deliverance of quirky if not undesirable content has cooled my future expectations for another iteration. I do like Sims 4, it is all the above that has cooled my ardor for another round of frustration. I am just starting to enjoy the game the way it was meant to be enjoyed. I still have a great deal of appreciation for the original Sims which at the time was incredibly magical especially that first night when I installed the game and could not play it but fiddled around following instructions on how to get it to work. When it finally started working, I was entranced. Sims2 was another magical journey. I especially liked the seasons and how the sims would look out the window and check on the weather. There was so much humor in Sims 2, I loved it. Sims 3 blew me away with the open world and the ability to ride horses all over the countryside. I loved taking my infant for a walk in the stroller even on a snowy day. The different worlds were so intriguing. We even had the ability to scuba dive and to open our own hotels. The sims franchise is amazing. I enjoyed this game from its inception and would be so sad if it ever ended but if there is one thing about which I am sorely disappointed it is the lack of communication. If sims 5 is to follow this pattern then please spare me the pain before I become invested once again.
