I don't want to call it stupidity in some of these cases. My sims, I would label as ingrates maybe, having questionable tastes. I'm really benevolent, I gift them good furniture and appliances, I teach them how to cook so they can eat delicious meals. They choose to eat cold cereal and sleep on the sofa.?
