They Showed Up at High School?

I have had High School Years since it was released. This is the very first time Teens from another household actually showed up on campus. (And I'm not talking about NPCs.) I have only two households I created in this new save. Both families live in Windenburg.  I left the first household to spend a bit of time with the second one and I followed the two sisters to school. Suddenly the middle brother of three was there in the hallway. Say, what? I have never had that happen before. It's been my experience, that even in played households, the Sims neither go to work, nor attend school. Happily, all three of the teen boys from household one was in attendance. The eldest was even tossing a football in the hallway to another student, an NPC.

Mind you, I was so delighted at this, giving the eldest of the two sisters a chance to meet what will be her future husband. When was this refreshed? At any rate, I'm very happy about this.

  • This has been the case in my game from almost the beginning 😊  But it was because of a mod specially for this, back then.

Now it is like this too, but not having said mod anymore 😊

But in my case most likely it is combination of other mods (home regions, townieoverhaul) , that my high school only has sims from my other households.

Anyway, happy to hear its like that in your game now 😊

  • It is great that the teens from your first household were also attending the school, when the teens from the second household were there 🙂It is very nice that you can now build on this for the future of two of them, with them meeting whilst attending high school together.

Hey! Someone who has made the ultimate NPC making guide!

Fun fact: as noted here, not any teen appears in the high school. In order for a teen to appear in high school lot, they need this trait: trait_HighSchool_Active_Class1Student. Despite the name, the teen can also appear as Class 2 student.

I'm guessing there are two ways to obtain that trait through gameplay:

    1. Follow your teens to high school at least once.
    2. If there are not enough teens in the high school, some random teens are given that trait.

Yes, it was simply perfect in two ways. 1. It was unexpected and, 2. It allowed me to set their friendship level for them to take things to the next step.

I think I know what mod to which you alluded to. I tried it, but it never worked for me. More experimentation is needed, I feel, to prove this is a thing, now.

I did follow the boys to school once, but that was in a different save. This is a brand new save I began. I just happen to place the same families in it. Previously, no ties were between the two families.  I hadn't had the chance to set the friendships between the two sets of parents, let alone their kids. Sometimes, it's as if this game reads my mind . . .

I'm guessing option 2 must be the impetus.  I had to evict two households in Windenburg --- I needed both 64 X 64 lots. As far as I know there are no other teens in this town. Maybe that's all it is.

  • Wait. You don't get teens from your other played household attend or show up when you follow your teen to school? Because from the beginning I've always had a good mix of teens showing up from played households, from unplayed households and teen townies that are not housed. I have mods yes, but I don't have any mods that affects attendance in highschool.

Infact I was very glad when I saw that because I was worried about more npcs spawning in the saved game I was playing when I got the highschool pack and that save had a bit of a crowd control problems.

  • I have never had sims from my other played households show up either.  I am glad that it happened for you!

  • That's cool! I haven't had that happen in my game but I haven't played a teen for a few weeks. I have noticed that my played sims seem to turn up at the cheerleading and football events, but never in class. And usually the only premade teens who show up in class are from Copperdale.

  • I have played household teens show up at HS on a regular basis.  At first, it was just the HSY premades like Molly, Kevin, Noah, etc.  But now, most of the teens that show up are from my other played households and only one or two NPCs.  But I do have a lot of households, over 150, and a lot of teens.  Generally, the played teens that show up will change depending on which household I'm playing.  Some will show up quite often, and others not at all.

I've found that you do need a couple of NPC teens though for graduation if you like to go to the ceremony.  The NPCs will age up to fill out the graduating class which is usually 4 graduates including your teen.  If your sim didn't get to be the valedictorian, then the game will make one of the NPCs that showed up at HS with your sim fill that role.
