They're never going to add full actual religion into the game, and that's okay. But what if they did

I would like it. If it's an expansion, then they could include the bulk of religions since things can be duplicated in many of them. Or, they could add as packs come that would justify it. Like the way they did China in the Sims3 including customs, ECT.
