Maybe it's just my experience (plus my other 2 old pcs were waay different from my alienware lol) but when I think of both 2 and 3 iterations of pets, it goes like this:
TS2 Pets:
TS3 Pets:
Again though this is my own personal and opinion and maybe bias on the subject. But overall I actually preferred Ts2's pets for it's quality and it's focus primarily on the major pets. In this case quailty really did win me over rather than quantity. To me TS3 felt as if it spotted more light on it's new animal: horses, which got training courses, equestrian place etc. meanwhile cats and dogs (and the tiny animals) didn't really get too many major new major features minus being controllable and talking to each-other. Understandable though because they were new, but I just felt it was too much focus. After awhile, I went from having a pet in 3-6 homes (like I did in ts2) in the first 2 weeks, to just having none in any of my families the following. It really turned me off from Pets.
So i'm really curious because if this rumor turned out to be correct, I might actually consider getting pets if it manages to wow me <3.
TS2 Pets:
- 2 Species: Cat and Dog with a lot of interactions (I always thought the skunk was a cat in disguise lol)
- cute little animals to interact and care for
- Pet jobs exclusively for pets
- 3 pet life stages
- No world, but focused primarily on the quality of having a pet.
- Added werewolves. I never saw them and they never saw me lol. I honestly like the way the set that up. Made them feel rare and a true mythical challenge to become.
- Pet Parks
- Pet Personalities
TS3 Pets:
- 3 major species: Dogs, Cats, Horses
- another load of small animals
- Included Bambi (the deer family) and Unicorns
- Pets are controllable
- Pet personality is traded for Pet Traits
- 1 new world dedicated to pets (yet primarily to Horses)
- Training courses for horses
- Equestrian place for buying, breeding, training horses
- The customization was more complex, which was nice at first but I ended up getting bored doing all that fur customizing for a dog
- The lag build-up due to the stray dogs, cats and horses were too much for my laptop back then lol That's when i fully found out about what could be truely handled and what could not be. Once I did get my Alienware, I could easily handle pets..but I do get that it's not possible for everyone to have a "Pink Martian" as I call it lol.
- They did add a toggle for the animals, however unless you do that two seconds into loading up the game the strays are most likely already there (since it only prevents extras from coming..not what's already there). Luckily Nraas helped out with that.
